　　这份解析不同于以往的解析，韩冰老师希望通过这个解析，帮助大家学习一些英语知识，每个题目简单点线索，而着重强调我们可以进行哪些英语知识的习得。同时，这是一本符合新GRE的解析，新东方韩冰老师将大量的新GRE考点也融入到了这个解析中供大家进行学习。

　　解析：这是一道简单题目。后面说他们可以告诉我们更多的事情，那么前面就应该说他们什么事情都告诉不了我们，有这样一个意思的词就只有A选项。

　　答案： A

　　2. The Muses are ________ deities: they avenge themselves without mercy on those who weary of their charms.

　　(A) rueful

　　(B) ingenuous

　　(C) solicitous

　　(D) vindictive

　　(E) dispassionate

　　解析：这道题目注意冒号后面抓关键词，叫做avenge themselves without mercy，毫无怜悯的复仇。因此前面就要体现出恶毒这样一个意思，所以有这个意思的词只有D选项。

　　vindictive - Having or showing a strong or unreasoning desire for revenge:

　　weary of sth. 表示厌倦某事。

　　e.g. She wearied of the sameness of her life. 她厌倦了千篇一律的生活。

　　这里面还要注意avenge 和 revenge的区别。

　　(1) avenge体现出为自己复仇，revenge一般替别人复仇。

　　avenge - to punish or hurt somebody in return for something bad or wrong that they have done to you, your family or friends

　　revenge - Inflict hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong done to oneself:

　　(2) 要注意avenge / revenge + sb. 的时候表示替谁复仇，+sth. 的时候表示因为什么复仇。

　　It’s a pity he chose that way to revenge his sister. 不是说他报复他的妹妹，而是他替她妹妹复仇。

　　那么复仇的对象呢，要接介词on 。

　　e.g. She was determined to avenge herself on the man who had betrayed her. 谁背叛了她，她就会让谁下地狱。

　　答案：D

　　3. Without the psychiatrist's promise of confidentiality, trust is ________ and the patient's communication limited; even though confidentiality can thus be seen to be precious in therapy, moral responsibility sometimes requires a willingness to ________ it.

　　(A) implicit.. extend

　　(B) ambiguous.. apply

　　(C) prevented.. uphold

　　解析：注意confidential和自信无关，是保密的意思。比方说你们去考试GRE / TOEFL都会先签署保密协议(confidentiality agreement) 。

　　这道题前后两句话实际上体现出了一种矛盾感，虽然用“;”链接而且虽然没有明显的转折词，但是从意思上要判断出是相反。前面的话说没有保密的保证，信任就_____，病人的交流就受限，所以就是没有信任呗。后面又说，即使信任很可贵，但是到的责任有的时候需要我们怎么样这种信任(it指的就是信任)。 那么虽然建立信任很重要，但市场出于道义，有的时候我们也要破坏这种信任。比方说一个杀人犯跟你做咨询说，很多年前的那场离奇杀人案是他干的，虽然你是心理医生，但这个时候你也要去检举揭发他。

　　所以选择E选项，注意impaire是损害。C选项uphold是一个面熟生词，表示支持。

　　这里面有一句话 trust is impaired and the patient's communication limited。后半句省略了be动词，完整的句子应该是the patient’s communication is limited. 在并列句中，常常省略前面相同的成分。

　　e.g. Reading makes a full man, conference (makes) a ready man and writing an exact man.

　　答案： E

　　4. Having fully embraced the belief that government by persuasion is preferable to government by ________ , the leaders of the movement have recently ________ most of their previous statements supporting totalitarianism.

　　(A) intimidation.. issued

　　解析： 受限注意totalitarianism这个高端词。

　　totalitarianism - Relating to a system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state: 即我们说的极权主义。

　　前面说的是他们支持一个belief，这里面government是统治的意思，不是政府。以理服人(by persuasion 比以__服人(by____) 更好，所以他们怎么样之前的关于极权主义的言论，我们发现persuasion明显跟totalitarianism 相反，所以第一个空格应该补充极权主义的意思，而第二个空格怎时对totalitarianism的负向动词。所以选择E。

　　coercion表示强迫，动词原形是coerce。这个单词要和coarse区分开，coarse表示粗糙的，反义词是smooth。

　　答案：E

　　5. The powers and satisfactions of primeval people, though few and meager, were ________ - their few and simple desires.

　　(A) simultaneous with

　　(B) commensurate with

　　(C) substantiated by

　　解析：中间有个小让步，虽然少(few and meager)，却也没那么少呗，所以和她们的无欲则刚(few and simple desires)是匹配的。所以选择B选项。

　　注意A选项体现不出这两者之间有什么因果关系，只是单纯的同时发生。D选选项不合适，他们没有限制自己的powers and satisfactions。

　　解析：B

　　6. Some scientists argue that carbon compounds play such a central role in life on Earth because of the possibility of ________ resulting from the carbon atom's ability to form an unending series of different molecules.

　　(A) deviation

　　(B) stability

　　(C) reproduction

　　解析： 后面是原因，空格是结果。后面说能够形成各种一系列的组合(unending series of )所以选择D。注意A选项容易错选，deviation来自于deviate表示偏离，而不是不痛。

　　解析： 第二个空格填入的单词要体现出难懂，因为需要deciphering (解密)，前面填入的词要体现出正向的词即可，而且要体现出非自然的东西，因为是对自然东西的一种肤质刻画。所以选择C选项。

　　hieroglyph - A secret or incomprehensible symbol: 谜题。听过这种说法吧，蒙娜丽莎谜一样的微笑。

　　这里面要注意feat这个词表示成功，成就。
