　　这份解析不同于以往的解析，韩冰老师希望通过这个解析，帮助大家学习一些英语知识，每个题目简单点线索，而着重强调我们可以进行哪些英语知识的习得。同时，这是一本符合新GRE的解析，新东方韩冰老师将大量的新GRE考点也融入到了这个解析中供大家进行学习。

　　解析：这道题目主要看第二个空格，评估新的苹果品种，肯定是看他是否对various soils适应呗，所以直接选择C选项了，第一个空格填circumstances/conditions都可以，主要是第二个空格的差异。

　　注意D选项auspice 表示的是预兆，前兆，形容词是auspicious，表示吉祥的。同时这个单词还有一个短语可以掌握以下叫做under the auspices of 表示 with the help of 在.....的帮助下的意思。

　　D选项susceptible 表示易受影响的，应该和immune记成反义词。

　　答案：C

　　2. At first, I found her gravity rather intimidating; but, as I saw more of her, I found that ________ was very near the surface.

　　(A) seriousness

　　(B) confidence

　　(C) laughter

　　(D) poise

　　(E) determination

　　解析： 这道题目注意that 引导了一个宾语从句，并不是指代前面的内容，一开始我发现他很严肃(gravity，这里不是重力的意思，形容人严肃，就等于austerity，serious的意思)。但后来，当我仔细观察后，发现他其实挺随和的。所以后面这个空格应该跟gravity相反，所以选择C选项。

　　near the surface这个短语就是“呼之欲出”的意思，这个短语并没有收录在官方权威词典中，但是根据外教的解释，that something is near the surface means that something comes out easily。

　　注意intimidating来自于timid表示胆小的意思。

　　答案：C

　　解析： 这句话里面涉及了一些大家并不太懂的两个概念。一个是laity，另一个是rank-and-file。 我们一起来看一下这两个概念的英文解释：

　　laity — the people of a religion who are not priests, ministers, etc. the people of a religious faith as distinguished from its clergy.

　　rank-and-file — the individuals who constitute the body of an organization, society, or nation as distinguished from the leaders.

　　所以大家会发现，上面两个概念都与the ___ of Muslim clergy相对，一个是牧师一个是普通信徒。同时他们之间应该有转折，所以前面的人有特权，后面就没有。综合选择后，就是D选项。

　　注意，这里面latitude表示的是自由的意思，不是纬度。今天我们领导发了这样一句话：your attitude, instead of your aptitude, determines your altitude. 这里面attitude / aptitude / altitude 你能分清楚啊吗?

　　答案： C

　　4. The proponents of recombinant DNA research have decided to ________ federal regulation of their work; they hope that by making this compromise they can forestall proposed state and local controls that might be even stiffer.

　　(A) protest

　　解析：后面说by making THIS compromise，所以前面一定要出现一种compromise，这种compromise的结果是阻止更加stiff(rigid，严格)的管制。所以他们决定服从管制(federal regulation of their work)呗，因此选择D选项。

　　protest 要和protect 分开，attest 要和attack分开，attest还要和detest 、detect分开。考试的时候不要得严癌哦。

　　答案：D

　　5. It is to the novelist's credit that all of the episodes in her novel are presented realistically, without any ________ or playful supernatural tricks.

　　(A) elucidation

　　(B) discrimination

　　(C) artlessness

　　(D) authenticity

　　(E) whimsy

　　解析：注意后面有一个并列结构without ____ or playful supernatural tricks. 所以空格应该填入的词跟playful supernatural tricks相似，且与realistically相反。有这个意思的词只有whimsy。

　　whimsy - a playful or amusing quality

　　只有这个词跟playful相关。

　　注意这里面第一句话to one’s credit 这个短语什么意思呢?

　　to one’s credit - used to indicate that something praiseworthy has been achieved, especially despite difficulties. 也就是值得称赞的意思。

　　这句话可以理解为一个固定句型吧： It is to one’s credit that ……

　　再给几个例子你们随意感受一下：

　　(1) It is to your credit that you have surrounded yourself with such vibrant young talent at the Weekender.

　　(2) It is to your credit that while in prison you have addressed your drug problem.

　　答案：E

　　解析： 首先需要注意，powerful though they may be这个结构实际上是一个让步状语。

　　(as) + adj. + as + 主语 + be, 或者adj. + though + 主语 + be 表示虽然尽管的意思。所以说虽然我们的新工具很强大，但是因此后面应该填入不好的事儿。

　　所以第一个空格填入负向词汇，而第二个空格应该填入与第一个空格相反意思的词汇，说明过去的productive approaches 一直高度的怎么样，就应该跟这个新的方法结论相反，所以选择E选项。simplistic表示过于简单的，而elusive表示难懂的。

　　注意elusive考试中考察两个意思(1) 难以捕捉的(2) 难懂的。做难懂的讲，还跟slippery考六选二。做难以捕捉的，还跟evasive考6选二。

　　答案： E

　　表示混合物amalgam的词，考试中还考察过patchwork这个单词。

　　答案：E
